Just wanted make sure if these are the correct options for my sub on my Wiim amp. Vas is an equivalent airspace of the driver's compliance. Meaning how much the suspension allows the cone to move with a given input. Higher vas = more movement.

On rock music, in stead of rap or other low frequency sources, the amp can be clipped alot easier of course. As you can see, i'm sort of trying to get ear breaking db, and not stick with just a nice sounding sub. First, I think you are meaning to say cubic feet, not liters with those numbers. A high vas normally means sloppy response... lower Vas tends have have much tighter sounds. Since sound is created by air movement, the more you move, the louder in repects. Hooking up two 800 watt RMS HO's is 600 watts RMS over the amplifier output. Two 500 watt RMS HF's are just right. Re: The importance of Vas (Vd)? I don't know if anyone's really answered your core question. But speakers follow Hoffman's iron law. Put simply, your sub can: 1. Be small 2. Be efficient 3. Play low Pick two. Here's Hoffman's law in more detail. Large woofers in large boxes aren't inherently sloppy. Wow, that explains alot. Well... would doubling the speakers have a noticable effect on the output. Aside from the fact that it will balance much better as Max has said. Doing so will garner an additional 3dB output with level power, an additional 6dB with level voltage if parallel wired.

At first I thought that low Vas meant that the driver required less box volume for a given bass extension and/or output. Who doesn't want that, so when scanning for suitable subwoofer candidate drivers I looked at Vas first. But running numbers using Loudspeaker Design Cookbook (this was before modeling s/w was readily available), that didn't pan out. What does the Vas specification for a speaker tell us about that speaker's qualities or capabilities? So, Vas is the box volume with the same spring constant as the suspension. Putting a speaker in a closed box of volume equal to its Vas will roughly increase the cutoff frequency by a factor of 1.4, so a driver with lower Vas can reasonably live in a smaller box. Experienced engineers can "read" those parameters, but I can't. Today, we can plug those parameters into a design program, and while the program won't tell us how to design a good speaker, at the very least we can change some of the parameters by hand and see how it affects the response graphs. Reducing the box size always increases the resonant frequency, so nothing would suddenly go wrong, but in addition to reducing the amount of low end, a smaller box will eventually result in a "hump" in the response just above cutoff. Now just for my own opinion... the Thiele-Small parameters date back to when engineers had to design speakers without the use of a computer.

Vas is one of the trickiest parameters to measure because air pressure changes relative to humidity and temperature — a precisely controlled lab environment is essential. Considering stiffness (Cms), in conjunction with the Q parameters gives rise to the kind of subjective decisions made by car manufacturers when tuning cars between comfort to carry the president and precision to go racing. Think of the peaks and valleys of audio signals like a road surface then consider that the ideal speaker suspension is like car suspension that can traverse the rockiest terrain with race-car precision and sensitivity at the speed of a fighter plane. If the box is small, the air is harder to compress and therefore less compliant, and if the box is larger, the air is easier to compress, therefore more compliant. In conclusion, Vas describes the volume of the air inside the cabinet, where the compliance of the speaker matches the compliance of the air inside the box.
