TriOviz for Games Technology is a software development kit that works with Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, and PC. TriOviz for Games Technology allows a video game to display on a 3D TV (via HDMI 1.3 or HDMI 1.4 connection) as well as on a traditional 2D HDTV set (LCD and plasma) with the TriOviz Inficolor 3D technology. It uses glasses with complex color filters and dedicated image processing that allow natural color perception with a pleasant 3D experience. When observed without glasses, some slight doubling can be noticed in the background of the action which allows the film or game to be watched in 2D without the glasses. This is not possible with traditional brute force anaglyphic systems. TriOviz for Games Technology was showcased in June 2010 at Electronic Entertainment Expo 2010 by Mark Rein (vice president of Epic Games) as a 3D tech demo running on an Xbox 360 with Gears of War 2. In October 2010, this technology was integrated in Unreal Engine 3, the computer game engine developed by Epic Games, allowing numerous past and upcoming games developed on Xbox 360 and PS3 to be updated with 3D.

9 games were released that are compatible with the Trioviz technology; Batman Arkham Asylum: Game of the Year Edition, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Thor: God of Thunder, Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, Captain America: Super Soldier, Gears of War 3, Batman: Arkham City, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, and Assassin's Creed III Since the GOTY edition of Arkham Asylum has a whole separate achievement list from the version of the game I completed back in 2010, I found a copy on E-bay that included the glasses and have been playing it over the past week on my old Xbox 360. The glasses are cardboard and branded with the Arkham Asylum logo and really feel like a historical collector’s piece as they will never be made again. As far as the 3D effect, I have to say, it is well done and serves this game wonderfully. The plastic glasses were originally $30 at their peak in 2010, they can now be had brand new for about $5. I would highly recommend a pair of you decide to try out any of the games. Not only are they affordable but the lenses themselves are a much higher quality than the cardboard ones, and make the colors of the images very natural. After a few minutes you actually forget you're wearing them. It is strange to find myself turning on the Xbox 360 again, to watch achievements pop in old 360 style. I had no idea this stuff ever existed on the 360. I myself found 3D a bit of a fad at the time, kind of how it feels VR is now (although I feel VR has much more weight to it and the technology just isn't as refined yet.) I do plan at some point to get Green Lantern and Thor, so I'll see if I can grab a 3D copy. Its cool to know they put some real effort in by making unique designs for each game. Thanks for the info (I subbed btw) (It was also nice to know that the 360 achievements are compatible with the MS Rewards 50 points a day offer too!) I’m also a little surprised that my gamer self didn’t realize until 2022 that there were 3D games on the Xbox 360. Bottom line: If you have an Xbox 360 I would highly recommend playing the 3D version of these games.
