Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Test
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The Xiaomi Mi Note 2, originally released in late 2016, transitioned from a "Galaxy Note 7 alternative" to a legacy/niche collectors' device in 2026. While the device itself is discontinued, the aftermarket for its unique components—particularly its curved OLED display and high-capacity batteries—remains active for repair and refurbishment.
Product Performance & Legacy Insights
* Historical Performance: Powered by the Snapdragon 821, it was a flagship powerhouse of its era, scoring over 1800 in Geekbench 4 (Single-Core) and performing well in gaming tests Techadvisor. * Key Design Assets: Its standout feature was the 5.7-inch flexible OLED curved display, Xiaomi's first foray into curved glass aesthetics Gsmarena.
* Hardware Limitations: Reviewers noted a lack of waterproofing (no IP rating) and a relatively low 1080p resolution for a large-screen flagship GsmarenaGsmarena.

* Display Replacements: High-quality OLED assembly replacements are still available from specialized suppliers in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, ranging from approximately $13 to $105 depending on quality (OLED vs. aftermarket LCD) AlibabaAlibaba.
* Battery Maintenance: The BM45 battery (compatible with Note 2 and Note 2 Prime) is widely available for wholesale, typically priced around $2.69 - $3.70 per piece for bulk orders AlibabaAlibaba.
* Collector Context: In 2026, the device is cited in buying guides as a historical milestone for Xiaomi’s global expansion, specifically for being their first device to support global LTE bands (37 bands total) Androidcentral.
