The Yoga series has set such a high bar for laptop-tablet hybrids that nearly every PC maker is copying Lenovo. The top and bottom surfaces of the Yoga 3 Pro are covered in a magnesium matte finish that resists fingerprints and provides a fashion-forward aesthetic that's equally at home in the boardroom or in the living room. Our review unit came in a rather bland Platinum Silver, but Lenovo sells the laptop in Champagne Gold and Clementine Orange, the latter of which looks truly stunning. The Yoga 3 Pro ups the ante with a slimmer, lighter design, a watchlike hinge and Intel's new power-efficient Core M processor. Starting at $1,299, Lenovo's 13-inch hybrid is more expensive than highly regarded competitors such as the MacBook Air and Surface Pro 3. The compelling design and eye-popping screen help justify the premium, but you'll sacrifice battery life versus competing ultraportables. ... One of the best-looking laptops just got even more beautiful. Still, both volumes are way above the 84 dB ultraportable laptop category average. ... The Yoga 3 Pro's keyboard has many positives that contribute to a comfortable typing experience, but it also has less tactile feedback than I'd like. Covered in a soft-touch rubberized material, the deck was one of the most comfortable I've ever rested my wrists on, offering plenty of support without chafing or digging into my hands. As on other Lenovo laptops, the keys are well spaced with a rounded shape that makes it easy to avoid adjacent-letter errors.

The biggest change is the hinge, which leaves behind the dual-axle design seen on the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro($0.00 at Amazon) and the Lenovo Yoga 2 13($599.99 at Amazon), and instead uses a watchband-inspired hinge that runs the length of the device. You can still flip and fold the laptop as before, with different usage modes, like Stand, Tent, and Display, but now you can also lay the laptop out flat, 180 degrees, which you could not do on previous models.

The 3200 x 1800 pixel display is one of the best we have seen on a laptop. Touch response and using the Yoga 3 Pro in various modes, specially stand and tent mode for movies and presentations is really cool. Don't be misled by the name – the Yoga 3 Pro is far from a professional notebook, foretold by Lenovo's choice of Windows consumer operating system. Overall battery life is better than budget laptops although we had hoped for more like 10 hours with the novel low-power processor.

Yoga 3 pro is 1300 usd in the US, and it is around 2150 usd in Denmark (Europe) where I live (12500 DDK) I see my wish-list-specs going for around the same in the respective countries ... I don’t have much experience with any styluses, that’s not something I’m interested in and I haven’t got to test many laptops with styluses/digitizers. For your needs, I’d probably look at the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga . The latest analysis, news, findings and scoops on ultrabooks and ultra-portable laptops. ... Hope so too. I read your “Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro” Review and look forward to a Review of the “HP ENVY x2”, it is fanless and on HPs Site starting @ $900 (Hint). I think these first lines of Laptops / Tablets derived from this Processor will be fraught will the need to throttle to preserve TDP. Someone please tell Lenovo to stop trying to redesign the keyboard layout. Nobody wants to purchase a new laptop and be surprised when keys NO LONGER EXIST!!! or… i have to press another key like Fn. This is very unproductive!!! ... I think I am going to pick this up at BestBuy for 1300 USD, and try it out. To my understanding I can just return it again within the specified time period.

The Yoga 3 Pro adds a unique new hinge to be thinner and lighter than ever. The high-resolution screen looks fantastic, and the hybrid design still works great as a laptop. This first outing with Intel's new Core M processor fails to impress, with mediocre performance and battery life. Bottom line: The Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro has a breakthrough design, but requires careful consideration of the trade-offs required, particularly battery life. Since then, the idea of a clamshell laptop with two 360-degree fold-back hinges has appeared on not only several subsequent Yoga products from Lenovo, but also systems from Dell, Toshiba, HP, and others. If you’re not familiar with how the Yoga line works, it starts off as an ordinary thin clamshell laptop, but the lid and display fold back a full 360 degrees to form either a thick tablet, or a stand/kiosk device when only folded partway back. That basic hook applies to several generations of Yoga systems, including more recent ThinkPad and Chromebook variations. For the Yoga 3 Pro, the hinge still folds back a full 360 degrees, taking the chassis from a traditional clamshell laptop to a folded over tablet, with many possible stops along the way. Lenovo’s Yoga 3 Pro is so close to perfect that its shortcomings feel all the more frustrating. In terms of form and usability, this is easily my favorite new laptop design of the year. As in the previous Pro version of the Yoga, the Yoga 3 Pro is built around a better-than-HD display. The 13-inch screen has a native resolution of 3,200×1,800 pixels. That’s better than standard 1080p screens, but we’re seeing more and more true 4K display displays in laptops, so these higher resolutions are not quite as special as they were even a year ago.
