Asus Zenpad 8.0
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The ASUS ZenPad 8.0 is currently classified as a legacy device, having been originally released in 2015 Gadgets360Notebookcheck. While it once offered a sleek "Clutch Bag" aesthetic and unique modular accessories, it has largely been phased out of the primary retail market.
Product Overview & Variants
The ZenPad 8.0 series was known for its 8-inch 1280x800 IPS display and swappable back covers AsusAsus.
* Z380C: The entry-level model featuring an Intel Atom x3-C3200 processor and 1GB/2GB RAM Gadgets360.
* Z380M: A later refresh with a MediaTek MT8163 processor, generally offering more stable graphics performance for casual gaming AsusNotebookcheck.
* Z380KL: The LTE-enabled variant powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset DevicespecificationsGsmarena.
Market Trends & Insights
* Availability: New units are no longer available through major distributors Notebookcheck. The market has shifted entirely to second-hand platforms where devices typically sell for under $50–$70 Notebookcheck.
* Modular Accessories: The once-innovative Audio Cover (5.1 surround sound) and Power Case (extra battery) are now extremely rare and difficult to source even on B2B platforms Notebookcheck.
* User Sentiment: Recent feedback is critical of the device's sluggish performance and lack of software updates, with most units stuck on Android 5.0 or 6.0 GsmarenaYoutube. The 900MHz clock speed on the Z380C model is often cited as insufficient for modern social media and web browsing Gsmarena.
Sourcing Alternatives
Since the ZenPad 8.0 is no longer in production, the B2B market has moved toward generic OEM 8-inch tablets that offer significantly better value:
* Modern Specs: Current budget 8-inch tablets now standardly feature 2GB–4GB RAM and 32GB+ storage for as low as $38–$68 in wholesale quantities .
* Software: Most new alternatives run Android 11 or 12, providing better app compatibility than the legacy ZenPad series .
