Goldstar Lcd Tv
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The phrase "GoldStar LCD TV" primarily refers to a transitional era in consumer electronics history. While GoldStar was a pioneering brand that became LG Electronics in 1995, the brand name is no longer used for new television production. However, a significant secondary market persists for these units, particularly within retro gaming and vintage electronics circles. LgAlibaba
Brand Evolution: GoldStar to LG
* The Transition: GoldStar (founded in 1958) merged with Lucky Chemical to form Lucky-Goldstar in 1983. In 1995, the company rebranded to LG Electronics to shed its "budget" image and compete in the premium global market. LgWikipedia
* Production Milestones: GoldStar produced South Korea’s first B&W TV (1966) and color TV (1977). By the time the brand transitioned to LG, it was already a major global player, with production facilities in the US as early as 1982. AlibabaWikipedia
Market Trends & Insights (2026)
* The "Retro" Boom: Vintage GoldStar sets, especially CRTs, have seen a resurgence in value. Tested units are now valued between $110–$240 for their authentic 240p gaming performance, while smaller portable models sell for $35–$65. Alibaba
* Contemporary "GoldStar" Branding: Modern B2B searches for "GoldStar LCD TV" now primarily return OEM components or universal replacement parts. Some specialized driver boards even feature "Gold Star" branding on the PCB, indicating a legacy supply chain for repair and refurbishment of older LCD screens.
* Market Opportunity: As original CRT and early LCD production has ceased, there is a steady demand for universal LCD controller boards and refurbished small-form-factor displays for industrial or hobbyist repair projects.
